Kajabi review

Courses, email, website, and community in one bill, with no cut of sales, from $179 a month.

Verdict

Kajabi is good if your course business already earns $5,000 or more a month and you want courses, email, funnels, and community in one place. It takes no cut of sales, but plans start at $179 a month on monthly billing, which is 17.9% of $1,000 in sales. Beginners should start cheaper with Podia or Teachable.

7.4out of 10

Best for. Established course creators who want email, funnels, a website, and a community in one subscription and earn enough to absorb $179 to $499 a month.

Skip it if. Beginners earning under $2,000 a month, who would hand about 9% or more of revenue to the subscription alone.

  • The cheapest monthly plan costs $179.
  • Basic caps you at 5 products and 2,500 contacts.
  • Connecting your own Stripe account costs an extra 2% on Basic.
  • Affiliates and advanced automations require Growth at $249.
  • New Kajabi Payments accounts start on monthly payouts.

How much does Kajabi cost?

Kajabi costs $179, $249, or $499 a month on monthly billing, or $143, $199, or $399 a month if you pay for a year up front. There is no free plan. The standard trial is 14 days, and Kajabi's pricing FAQ says every plan has a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Kajabi takes no percentage of your sales. Your costs are the subscription plus card processing, which Kajabi Payments charges at 2.9% + $0.30 per US card payment on Basic, 2.8% + $0.30 on Growth, and 2.7% + $0.30 on Pro.

A flat $179 is 17.9% of $1,000 in monthly sales and 1.8% of $10,000. That one ratio decides whether Kajabi makes sense for you. From one-time US card sales of $150 each, Basic leaves you $790 of $1,000 and $9,511 of $10,000. Our fee table shows how that compares with platforms that charge per sale instead.

Kajabi's US fee schedule also lists extras that are easy to miss:

  • 0.7% on every subscription and payment plan charge, including the first one.
  • 1.5% on cards issued outside your country, and 1% when currency conversion is needed.
  • $15 per dispute, not refunded if you win.
  • $0.15 per transaction if you turn on Kajabi Sales Tax.
  • 1.5% with a $0.50 minimum for Instant Payouts.

Does Kajabi charge a transaction fee?

Kajabi charges no platform fee on sales through Kajabi Payments or PayPal, but it adds 2% on Basic, 1% on Growth, and 0.5% on Pro when you run card payments through another processor, such as your own Stripe account.

The surcharge applies only where Kajabi Payments is offered: the US, Canada, Australia, the UAE, the UK, and select European countries. Creators elsewhere pay no extra fee for using a third-party processor.

In practice, Kajabi Payments is the default for most sellers. That is fine on cost, since Basic's 2.9% + $0.30 is the same rate Podia lists for standard Stripe processing, but it means your payment history lives inside Kajabi rather than in a Stripe account you control.

Is Kajabi worth it for a new course creator?

Usually not. Basic caps you at 5 products and 2,500 contacts, and $179 a month is a lot to spend before you have buyers.

Kajabi's own FAQ recommends Basic for people who have not sold anything yet. We disagree on cost alone. Teachable Builder at $89 and Podia Shaker at $99 also charge no transaction fee and cost about half as much.

Kajabi gets better value as you grow. Growth adds affiliate programs, advanced automations, webhooks, and branding removal for $249. Pro adds a branded mobile app, which Kajabi values at $199 a month, plus API access, a custom code editor, and three websites.

What do you get beyond courses?

Kajabi's product menu lists courses, coaching, communities, newsletters, podcasts, a website builder, landing pages, and funnels, and every plan includes unlimited marketing emails, landing pages, and funnels.

That bundle is the real case for Kajabi. If you would otherwise pay separately for an email tool, a site builder, and a community app, $179 to $249 a month starts to look reasonable.

Watch the limits. Basic and Growth include 1 website and 1 community, and Pro raises both to 3. Extra contacts cost $125 a month per block of 25,000 on any plan, so a large free list gets expensive.

How do Kajabi payouts work?

Kajabi Payments sends money to your bank daily, weekly, or monthly, but every new account starts on monthly payouts with a 7-business-day transaction delay.

Kajabi says faster schedules may open 1 to 2 business days after your first sale, depending on factors such as processing history and business type. Your bank can take another 1 to 2 business days to post the funds.

Updating your bank account puts a 7-day hold on all payouts. A chargeback can push your schedule back to monthly until Kajabi reviews the account.
